Empowering Success

We implement a comprehensive range of evidence-based, trauma-informed methodologies and resources, including Restorative Practices, The Trauma-Informed School framework, and the Thrive model. These approaches are designed to equip children with essential skills and cognitive frameworks that promote constructive interactions across various environments, including family, educational institutions, community settings, and the broader global society. Our commitment extends to providing educational interventions through daily tutoring sessions facilitated by Khan Academy, alongside direct engagement with educators, big brother programs, case management, and counselors.

Our overarching objective is to adopt a holistic approach to care and support for our clients, ensuring that they are well-prepared for success even after they transition out of our program. We prioritize the empowerment of children and youth who have experienced trauma, with a particular focus on culturally sensitive practices that honor all traditions. As a family-owned organization, we are dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity in all our initiatives, thereby creating an environment that nurtures the unique needs of each child and family we serve.

Residential Care and Post-Discharge Support

The Shalva Haven facility operates as a home featuring six beds and maintains a staff-to-child ratio of 1:5. Nursing staff are on duty around the clock, ensuring comprehensive care, while the agency's clinical services are customized to address the unique requirements of each child. Additionally, Shalva Haven offers discharge planning and post-discharge support services, contingent upon the family's assessment of necessity. Shalva Haven is committed to implementing effective strategies for safe graduation from our program and aftercare, which includes formulating a discharge plan compliant with Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) and providing a minimum of six months of support following a child's discharge.

Behavioral and Trauma-Focused Therapy

Behavioral therapy is offered to assist individuals in altering potentially harmful behaviors by substituting negative habits with positive ones while managing challenging circumstances. Additionally, trauma-focused therapy is available to support children in processing traumatic memories and experiences, enabling them to recognize and modify negative thoughts and beliefs that contribute to distressing emotions and functional challenges.
